Review of Penelope and the Beauty Bar

Hi again!

It’s been a while but I thought I’d pop on here to do a quick review of one of my favorite spas in Seattle. For some background information, I wanted to come here to get a couples massage for my boyfriend’s 21st birthday, but they didn’t have the space for two massages in the same room so I opted for a facial instead. I got the CVS lift biologique recherché facial, and he got the recover men’s massage. It’s an understatement to say we both had an amazing time!

Part of the reason I loved this place was the environment. It was very friendly, welcoming, and I was treated like a professional during my time here. It was also beauuuuutiful, every room was immaculately decorated, and it was a great place to take pics and post IG stories. The service was great as well — we were offered drinks upon arrival, again after being seated, and even again after we finished.

Getting ready before the treatment started!

So, a little bit about my skin. I just turned 20 this year so my skin is pretty young and bouncy still. It ranges from oily to dry depending on the season, and my main concerns are usually acne and hyperpigmentation, but I love trying new things (especially if it promises more contoured facial features). It’s a little early to say I want some anti-aging products, but I do want to experiment with preventative measures.

My esthetician was very knowledgable and easy to talk to. I learned a lot about how to care for my skin, which is one of my favorites parts of a getting a facial. I really want to learn what they know to improve what I can do at home for my skin. I learned that strong products like Retinol aren’t super necessary at my age and can sometimes cause more harm than good (because it thins out your skin). She also encouraged me to try to keep my routine more natural and stay away from strong active ingredients in my skincare products. During the facial, I felt extremely relaxed and well taken care of. We did a double cleanse, a variety of masks, extractions, and micro current facial toning at the end. She warned me that some of the masks might smell funny, but it didn’t really bother me. The micro current toning was pretty short, and I don’t think I got much results from that part. However, after she was done, my skin not only felt relaxed and quenched, but my boyfriend said I had a visible glow as well.I also got an amaaaazing scalp and neck massage, which is always my favorite part.
